Out-of-favour Brazilian forward Luiz Adriano has traded the Roman cathedrals and haute couture of Milan for the Russian capital after agreeing to a move to Spartak Moscow.
The Russian top-flight side announced the transfer with a statement on its website, with the Red-Whites adding that 29-year-old Adriano has signed a permanent deal from AC Milan that expires in January 2017. Neither club disclosed the duration or terms of the contract.
After a stellar spell with Ukranian giant Shakhtar Donetsk, Adriano's career hit a wall at the San Siro after joining the Milanese side in 2015 on a five-year deal for an €8-million fee.
With Milan, Adriano made 33 appearances, pairing four goals with three assists, all of which came last season. This campaign, the four-time capped international has been glued to Vincenzo Montella's bench, featuring in a scant seven matches and only one as a starter, when he was taken off at the half in a 4-3 victory over Sassuolo.
Milan also released a statement Monday saying, "The Club wants to thank Luiz for his two seasons in the Red and Black and wishes him the very best of luck for the future."
