Brooklyn Nets guard Spencer Dinwiddie is being evaluated for a right thumb injury, the team announced on Thursday.

Although the Nets didn't provide any further information, a hand specialist did diagnose him with torn ligaments, according to former NBA player and Fox Sports' Caron Butler.

Dinwiddie will get two more evaluations to confirm the severity of the injury but is expected to miss four-to-six weeks, according to Butler.

The 25-year-old is averaging a career-high 17.2 points per contest on 46.1 percent shooting. Dinwiddie agreed to a three-year, $34-million contract extension last December.
