Former JBA player says he only received 1/3 of promised pay
One of the selling points of LaVar Ball's Junior Basketball Association was its promise of a $3,000-per-month salary, but one former player says he's still waiting on most of his money.
Brandon Phillips, who played for the Los Angeles Ballers, told Cycle's Thomas Duffy that he only received one-third of what he was promised. He was cut mid-season to make room on the roster for LaVar's son LiAngelo.

Had to pay for his own bags on every flight, so he saved nothing.
Owed two more checks but nobody’s returning his calls.
Gave up his eligibility for ~$1000.
Phillips tweeted that he "can provide screenshots of players on my team who also got cut backing up my statements," though he did acknowledge that the JBA "has been great to a lot of kids."

The L.A. squad, which also featured LaVar's youngest son LaMelo, won the first-ever Junior Basketball Association Championship on Sunday. As a prize for winning the title, every player and coach on the team received a 2018 Cadillac ATS Sedan.
LaVar announced in June that the JBA would pay players $3,000 per month and 60 percent of the proceeds from their jersey sales. He has also said he's prepared to pay elite prospects a monthly salary of between $10,000 and $50,000.
