Kuzma: No beef with Lonzo, media doesn't 'understand the culture'

The shots and jabs at one another on social media, and even in a rap diss track, were all in good fun between Los Angeles Lakers teammates Kyle Kuzma and Lonzo Ball.

Kuzma made it crystal clear on Monday night at the annual NBA Awards that there's no animosity between him and Ball, and that the media blew their roasting of one another way out of proportion.

"My reaction is it's we are all good," said Kuzma, according to ESPN's Ohm Youngmisuk. "We all joke. It happens, it's what we do. I feel like, you know, the media, they don't understand the culture that we live in. For us, we are good."

Ball published a diss track entitled "Kylie Kuzma," which included a lyric pointing out that Kuzma doesn't know his biological father. It was around that point when the Lakers organization decided to intervene, pulling the young duo aside to reportedly ask them to tone down their insults and jokes on social media.

When asked whether the rap song was a sign that their seemingly playful back and forth was escalating, Kuzma denied that was the case.

Former Laker and current Golden State Warriors guard Nick Young knows all too well how using social media poorly can blow up in one's face, having been involved in a prior incident with former teammate D'Angelo Russell. Nonetheless, Swaggy P said Kuzma and Ball are just goofing around with their taunts.

"They are just kids having fun. … I thought they were just playing around," Young said. "Me and Draymond (Green) have been like that all year. I think they are just enjoying their moment right now. Don't stop them. Y'all gonna mess them up. I think y'all gonna make them fight. They are just having fun."
