Nance to begin wearing dad's No. 22
Larry Nance Sr.'s No. 22 is retired to the rafters of Quicken Loans Arena, but that won't stop the Cleveland Cavaliers from letting Larry Nance Jr. wear the number.
Nance Jr. has announced he'll start wearing No. 22 next week. However, he'll be in his usual No. 24 on Thursday against the Washington Wizards.
"I don't want to see (my father's retired jersey) come down," Nance Jr., said Wednesday, per 92.3 The Fan. "If there is some way where I could even drop the 'Jr.' off my jersey and wear the 'Nance' No. 22 I'd love to keep it up there. I'd also love to wear 22, but I just don't want to see it come down."
Nance Jr. was acquired from the Los Angeles Lakers in Cleveland's trade-deadline remake. The 25-year-old was born when his father was a star with the Cavaliers, and grew up in Northeast Ohio.
