The Minnesota Vikings fired general manager Kwesi Adofo-Mensah, the team announced Friday.

"Following our annual end-of-season organizational meetings over the last several weeks and after careful consideration, we have decided that it is in the best interest of the team to move forward with new leadership of our football operations," team owners Mark and Zygi Wilf said in a statement. "These decisions are never easy. We are grateful for Kwesi's contributions and commitment to the organization over the past four years and wish him and his family the best in the future."

The Vikings hired Adofo-Mensah in January 2022. The 44-year-old signed a contract extension with the club in May 2025.

Minnesota made two playoff appearances during Adofo-Mensah's four-year tenure and compiled a 43-25 record. However, the team never advanced past the wild-card round while he was the GM.

The Vikings plan to search for his replacement after April's draft. Executive vice president of football operations Rob Brzezinski will fill the role in the interim.

Those around the league were aware of underlying tension in Minnesota's facility throughout the 2025 season, according to ESPN's Adam Schefter. Adofo-Mensah spent this week in Mobile, Alabama, scouting prospects during practices at the Senior Bowl.

Adofo-Mensah's draft record came under scrutiny during his tenure. The Vikings are one of 11 teams that hasn't produced a Pro Bowler from the draft since 2022. The Princeton graduate was considered the league's first GM with a background primarily in analytics.

Minnesota went 9-8 in 2025 and missed the postseason. It was the team's first campaign with 2024 10th overall pick J.J. McCarthy as the unquestioned starter.

Sam Darnold was the Vikings' starting quarterback during their prolific 2024 campaign. They finished with a 14-3 record and secured a playoff berth with the veteran signal-caller, but let him sign with the Seattle Seahawks in free agency. The Vikings also let Daniel Jones flock to the Indianapolis Colts, where he turned in one of his finest seasons before an injury cut his campaign short.
