Kansas and Arizona State are in talks to potentially move next season's matchup to London's Wembley Stadium, sources told ESPN's Pete Thamel.

The proposed game, tentatively scheduled for Sept. 19, 2026, would require scheduling adjustments by Kansas, Thamel adds. The Jayhawks reportedly need a waiver to move their contest against Middle Tennessee from Sept. 19 to Week 0, among other outlying details.

Kansas is open to moving its home game against Arizona State overseas, partly because the school's football stadium will undergo offseason renovations that could limit seating capacity for the contest.

College football could see the sport cross international waters for three games next season. TCU and North Carolina will open the campaign by going head-to-head in the Aer Lingus College Football Classic at Aviva Stadium in Dublin, Ireland. Michigan is also engaged in ongoing discussions to host its 2026 season opener against Western Michigan in Frankfurt, Germany, on Aug. 29.

Big 12 commissioner Brett Yormark has been proactive in increasing the league's global presence.

"We're having conversations with other countries throughout the world that are very interested in bringing the Big 12 to their marketplace," Yormark said in July, per the Post and Courier's Scott Hamilton.

The Big 12 matchup would mark the second college football game ever played in the United Kingdom, following Richmond's victory over Boston University in the Imperial Bowl, held at the Crystal Palace National Sports Centre in London in 1988.
