Red Sox place Anthony on IL with oblique strain
The Boston Red Sox placed star rookie outfielder Roman Anthony on the injured list with an oblique strain, the team announced Wednesday.
"He's going on the IL. He has an oblique strain. Timetable, we don't know ... usually takes from four-to-six weeks," manager Alex Cora told WEEI.
The manager added, "It sounds harsh, but we have to move on."
Anthony believes he has a Grade 2 strain and hopes to be back as soon as possible, according to MassLive's Christopher Smith.
The rookie appeared to injure himself during an at-bat in the fourth inning of Tuesday's win over the Cleveland Guardians.

The 21-year-old has been terrific for the Red Sox in his rookie campaign, slashing .292/.396/.463 with eight home runs, 18 doubles, and 32 RBIs in 71 games.
The Red Sox recalled utility player Nick Sogard from Triple-A Worcester in a corresponding move.
Boston enters Wednesday 2.5 games behind the Toronto Blue Jays for first place in the AL East.
