Andrew Mangiapane is back in Alberta.

The Edmonton Oilers made their first notable addition of the offseason by signing the free-agent winger to a two-year contract with an average annual value of $3.6 million, the team announced Tuesday.

Mangiapane spent the first seven years of his career with the provincial rival Calgary Flames before playing for the Washington Capitals in 2024-25.

The 29-year-old tallied 14 goals and 14 assists last season. His 28 points were his fewest in a campaign since 2018-19, though he did post 3.6 defensive goals above replacement, good for third among all Capitals forwards, per Evolving-Hockey.

Mangiapane scored a career-high 35 goals in 2021-22 with the Flames. He's averaged 20 goals and 20 assists per 82 contests throughout his eight-year career.

He could compete for a top-six role alongside either Connor McDavid or Leon Draisaitl in Edmonton. The Oilers' other wing options include Zach Hyman, Ryan Nugent-Hopkins, Trent Frederic, Kasperi Kapanen, and Vasily Podkolzin.

The Oilers are left with under $1 million in cap space after the move. Viktor Arvidsson, Corey Perry, Evander Kane, and Connor Brown are among their offseason departures at wing. Jeff Skinner also remains unsigned.
