Dallas Stars executive Jim Nill has won his third straight Jim Gregory General Manager of the Year Award, the NHL announced Friday.

Nill is the first GM in the award's 15-year history to win three consecutive times.

The 67-year-old beat out Bill Zito of the Florida Panthers and Kevin Cheveldayoff of the Winnipeg Jets.

The award is voted on by NHL general managers, a panel of league executives, and print and broadcast media after the second round of the Stanley Cup Playoffs.

Here's how the voting broke down:

Rank GM Points 1st-2nd-3rd
1 Jim Nill (DAL) 139 17-17-3
2 Bill Zito (FLA) 102 12-12-6
3 Kevin Cheveldayoff (WPG) 52 6-6-4
4 Chris Patrick (WSH) 47 5-4-10
5 Chris MacFarland (COL) 16 2-1-3

Dallas posted a 50-26-6 record and tallied 106 points to finish second in the Central Division.

The Stars were ousted in the Western Conference Final for the third straight year.
