The Edmonton Oilers and center Trent Frederic agreed to an eight-year extension with an annual average value of $3.85 million, the team announced Friday.

The Oilers acquired Frederic from the Boston Bruins in a three-team trade involving the New Jersey Devils in March.

An injury limited Frederic to one regular-season game for Edmonton before he filled a more prominent role during the Oilers' postseason run to the Stanley Cup Final.

Frederic averaged 11:24 of ice time per contest while landing 85 hits in 22 playoff games for Edmonton.

The hard-hitting power forward spent parts of seven seasons with the Bruins, potting a career-best 18 goals during the 2023-24 campaign.
