Toronto Blue Jays first baseman Vladimir Guerrero Jr. exited Thursday's game against the Cleveland Guardians after taking a pitch to his right forearm in the third inning.

Guerrero initially stayed in the contest but was replaced defensively by Davis Schneider ahead of the fourth inning. Ernie Clement shifted to first base, while Schneider took over second, and Andrés Giménez moved to shortstop.

Blue Jays right-hander Kevin Gausman retaliated by hitting Guardians third baseman José Ramírez with a pitch near the ribs in the bottom of the fourth.

Ramírez was replaced in the lineup at the end of the frame, prompting a verbal exchange between Guardians manager Stephen Vogt and Blue Jays manager John Schneider after both teams were issued warnings.

Both players were diagnosed with forearm contusions after X-rays on each of them came back negative.

The Blue Jays defeated the Guardians 6-0.
