Boston manager Alex Cora expects Rafael Devers to do everything in his power to beat his former team when the Red Sox play the San Francisco Giants this weekend.

"He's going to do everything possible to kick our ass," Cora said, according to MassLive's Christopher Smith.

"And we're going to do everything possible to do the same. That's the business of it. The only thing is that it's so recent it's going to feel awkward. But I think both teams have a job to do. It's play the game and try to win."

Devers was traded Sunday by the Red Sox to the Giants in a surprising blockbuster deal, which followed several contentious incidents between the three-time All-Star and his former employer.

Devers, who was opposed to playing first base for the Red Sox after they switched him from third base to designated hitter in spring training, has already agreed to man the position if the Giants ask him.

The 28-year-old slugger was 2-for-5 with a double and an RBI in his Giants debut Tuesday.
