Royals sign Rich Hill to minor-league deal
Rich Hill's professional baseball journey could make another stop in Kansas City.
The 45-year-old signed a minor-league deal with the Kansas City Royals, the team announced Tuesday.
The Royals said Hill will report to their spring training facility in Surprise, Arizona, and should join their Triple-A affiliate in Omaha soon.
If Hill appears in a big-league game with the Royals, he'll have thrown a pitch for 14 different MLB teams over two decades. Edwin Jackson pitched for a record 14 teams over 17 seasons before retiring in 2022.
The left-hander appeared in four games with the Boston Red Sox in 2024, authoring a 12.3 K.9 and 7.26 FIP across 3 2/3 innings.
The Royals own one of the best starting staffs in the majors, ranking second in ERA and fWAR and fifth in FIP.
Two Royals starters - Alec Marsh and Kyle Wright - are on the injured list.
