Report: Cowboys discussed acquiring Steelers' Pickens

The Dallas Cowboys were among teams that discussed adding Pittsburgh Steelers wide receiver George Pickens, sources told The Athletic's Dianna Russini.

Pickens was brought up in trade talks over the past week with the Steelers calling around and other teams contacting them, Russini added. However, trade speculation over the receiver is expected to cool off with the 2025 NFL Draft completed.

It was previously reported that the Steelers were entertaining inquiries about Pickens, who is entering the final year of his rookie contract. The wideout's status came into question after Pittsburgh acquired wideout DK Metcalf from the Seattle Seahawks earlier this offseason.

The Cowboys have been open to adding more receiving help behind star wideout CeeDee Lamb. Team owner Jerry Jones said last week that the franchise was working on "two pretty substantive trades," though he did not offer specifics on the position group or players targeted. He added after the draft that "the train has not left the station" on adding more receivers after the Cowboys didn't select one with any of their nine picks.

Dallas is reported to have interest in reuniting with wide receiver Amari Cooper.

Pickens caught 59 passes for 900 yards and three touchdowns across 14 games last season.
