The San Diego Padres remain unbeatable at home to start the 2025 season thanks largely to Fernando Tatis Jr., who heard MVP chants during Monday's 10-4 win over the Chicago Cubs.

"It's too early for that, but I love it," Tatis said postgame to 97.3 The Fan's Sammy Levitt.

Tatis homered twice against the Cubs to help the Padres rally for a franchise-record 11th straight win at home to begin the season. The streak is tied for the fourth-longest home start in the majors since 1900, according to MLB.com's AJ Cassavell.

Tatis has been an integral part of the Padres' hot start, which has them first in the majors with an .824 winning percentage. The 26-year-old is tied for the major-league lead in home runs and ranks in the top 10 in hits, runs scored, batting average, slugging percentage, and OPS.

Tatis credited his strong start to an offseason adjustment in his batting stance, made with help from his father. He also pointed to a more consistent and simplified approach at the plate.

The adjustments have led to results - something home fans and his teammates have noticed - but Tatis was quick to shift the spotlight and highlight the Padres' collective effort for the team's success.

"We just keep showing where we're capable of as a team, as a lineup, as a defense, and I'm just happy for the boys," Tatis said, according to Jeff Sanders of the San Diego Union-Tribune.

"Everybody's on track, everybody's moving the line. It's really good baseball."
