Phoenix Suns head coach Mike Budenholzer recently asked Devin Booker to be less vocal, sources told NBA insider Chris Haynes.

Budenholzer reportedly held a meeting with Booker weeks ago and told the All-Star guard he was being too vocal on the court and during timeout huddles, preventing the two-time NBA Coach of the Year's voice from being heard.

Booker was completely shocked by Budenholzer's complaint, Haynes reports, citing sources.

Booker noted a lack of communication following the Suns' 124-116 defeat to the New Orleans Pelicans on Thursday.

"I'd rather two people say the wrong thing to each other out there than nobody talk at all and leave the grey area," Booker told reporters, including Duane Rankin of azcentral. "So it's like any job or any group project that you do. You have to do it together.

"Even once you have a game plan - you think everybody knows it. There's nothing wrong with reiterating it and just keep the conversation going throughout the whole game."

Phoenix fired Frank Vogel last May after one season as head coach and then signed Budenholder to a five-year, $50-million contract. The team has gone 27-32 with Budenholzer at the helm.

The Suns have dropped 10 of their last 12 games and sit 11th in the West, 3.5 games back of the final play-in tournament spot.
