The Cleveland Cavaliers had talks with the Atlanta Hawks about acquiring forward De'Andre Hunter in exchange for a package including Caris LeVert, sources told Chris Fedor of cleveland.com.

Hunter, a candidate for Sixth Man of the Year, is averaging 18.9 points, 3.8 rebounds, and 1.4 assists this season while shooting 38.6% from deep on 2.5 makes per game.

The Cavaliers would likely have to include another player in a trade to match Hunter's $21.7-million salary this season.

LeVert is averaging 10.2 points per game, his lowest mark since his rookie season in 2016-17.

The Cavaliers have also checked in on a multiple wings and forwards around the league, including Cam Johnson of the Brooklyn Nets, Jerami Grant of the Portland Trail Blazers, Javonte Green of the New Orleans Pelicans, Cody Martin of the Charlotte Hornets, Chris Boucher of the Toronto Raptors, Julian Champagnie of the San Antonio Spurs, and Obi Toppin of the Indiana Pacers, according to Fedor.

The franchise is reportedly interested in wing Royce O'Neale if the Phoenix Suns decide to trade Kevin Durant.

Cleveland is first in the Eastern Conference with a 40-10 record.

The trade deadline is Feb. 6 at 3 p.m. ET.
