Thunder reward Caruso with 4-year, $81M extension
Oklahoma City Thunder guard Alex Caruso has agreed to a four-year, $81-million contract extension, his agent told ESPN's Shams Charania.
The extension will keep Caruso under contract through the 2028-29 season.
Caruso is averaging 5.7 points, 2.9 rebounds, 2.4 assists, and a career-high 1.9 steals in 19 games with Oklahoma City. He's tied for fifth in the league in steals per game.
The Thunder acquired Caruso in an offseason trade with the Chicago Bulls in exchange for wing Josh Giddey.
Caruso began his career in 2016 with the Thunder's G League affiliate, the Oklahoma City Blue, with current Thunder coach Mark Daigneault serving in the same role for the Blue. The Los Angeles Lakers signed Caruso in 2017, where he made a name for himself as a defensive standout and won a championship in 2020.
He joined the Bulls in 2021, making All-Defensive first team in 2023 and second team in 2024.
Caruso holds career averages of 6.8 points, 2.9 rebounds, 2.8 assists, and 1.3 steals.
