Giants players dismiss 'dumpster fire' plane banner

New York Giants players shrugged off a viral airplane banner that criticized the team prior to Sunday's game against the New Orleans Saints.

Irritated Giants fans made their frustration known pregame by paying to fly a plane above MetLife Stadium with a banner that asked team co-owner John Mara to "fix this dumpster fire." The protest didn't have any immediate effect, as New York lost 14-11 to fall to 2-11 this season.

Giants edge rusher Kayvon Thibodeaux invited those responsible for the stunt to a face-to-face.

Rookie wide receiver Malik Nabers didn't give it the light of day.

"I didn't pay for the plane. I ain't got nothing to say," the pass-catcher said, according to SNY.

Veteran wideout Darius Slayton respects the fans' right to express their dissatisfaction amid another disappointing year for the Giants, who have only one winning season since 2017.

"People have money and time to do stuff like that. If that's what they choose to do, that's what they choose to do," Slayton said.

The Giants - owners of the NFL's worst scoring offense - have now lost eight straight games. The team is 0-7 at home.

Nabers admitted he didn't know how to answer why mistakes keep happening.

"That's just the New York Giants this year," he added.

New York hosts the Baltimore Ravens next week.
