Report: 49ers' Samuel will play vs. Cowboys after bout with pneumonia

San Francisco 49ers star receiver Deebo Samuel is expected to play Sunday against the Dallas Cowboys, a source told ESPN's Adam Schefter.

Samuel was initially listed as questionable after he was hospitalized earlier in the week due to pneumonia. The 28-year-old was also recovering from a wrist injury, Schefter adds.

Samuel was active for last Sunday's meeting with the Kansas City Chiefs despite dealing with the illness prior to the game. He lasted four offensive snaps before exiting. It was later determined that the former Pro Bowler had fluid on his lungs, and he was hospitalized with pneumonia-like symptoms.

His availability for Sunday's visit from the Cowboys will boost a 49ers offense that is reeling from the loss of fellow receiver Brandon Aiyuk, who suffered a torn right ACL and MCL against the Chiefs and was ruled out for the remainder of the campaign.

Samuel has 20 catches for 335 yards this season to pair with 51 yards rushing. He ranks second on the team with 39 touches.

The 49ers are 3-4 this season.
