The Golden State Warriors and forward Jonathan Kuminga won't reach an agreement on a rookie-scale extension before Monday's 6 p.m. ET deadline, sources told ESPN's Shams Charania and Kendra Andrews.

Kuminga will become a restricted free agent after the 2024-25 season, meaning the Warriors can match any offer presented to him by another team.

Golden State wants to monitor Kuminga's growth in his fourth NBA campaign and keep track of how he works with head coach Steve Kerr, according to Charania and Andrews.

Reports in January indicated Kuminga believed Kerr was preventing him from reaching his potential after the coach benched the 22-year-old in a contest against the Denver Nuggets. Kuminga averaged 18.7 points and started 34 of the last 41 games of the season.

The Warriors reportedly refused to include Kuminga in a potential trade to acquire All-Star forward Lauri Markkanen from the Utah Jazz this summer.

Kuminga averaged 16.1 points, 4.8 rebounds, and 2.2 assists last season while logging a career-high 26 minutes per game.

Moses Moody, meanwhile, signed a three-year, $39-million extension on his rookie contract Sunday to stay with the team.

The Warriors open their 2024-25 campaign Wednesday on the road against the Portland Trail Blazers.
