England ends USA's T20 World Cup with a thrashing
The United States' T20 Cricket World Cup is over.
America was thrashed by England in the nations' first World Cup meeting, with England stomping to a 10-wicket victory.
England advances to the tournament semi-final thanks to its stellar run rate.
The U.S. limps out of the competition after dropping all three of its Super Eight matches. But the tournament was a huge success overall for Team USA: A dream first round saw America defeat Canada to open the tournament, and upset Pakistan to ensure passage to the second round. American cricket made its voice heard.
Chris Jordan recorded a hat-trick for England in Sunday's match, the first in men's T20 competition for the country. The Americans batted first and were all out for 115 in 18.5 overs.
England's chase was quick and ruthless: the match was over in 9.4 overs, with England recording 117 runs and zero wickets falling. It was a much-needed dominant win for an outfit that's been struggling to find its rhythm as the tourney's progressed.
West Indies and South Africa will battle Sunday night at 8:30 p.m. ET, with the winner advancing to face England.
