Red Sox, Casas discussed extension: I want to be here 'forever'
Boston Red Sox first baseman Triston Casas said he's had talks with the team about a contract extension, according to Ian Browne of MLB.com.
Casas added that he wants to be with the Red Sox "forever" but that "nothing enticing" came out of the discussions.
"One that sets me and my family for the rest of my life," Casas said when asked what kind of an offer he would consider enticing. "I don't know what that looks like. I'm low maintenance. I don't need a lot. So, I got a small family. I don't need much but something that I think would suffice (for) the work that I put into it my whole life would be nice."
The 2023 AL Rookie of the Year finalist acknowledged that he did receive an offer but didn't have a hard time turning it down, according to Rob Bradford of WEEI.
Casas went deep 24 times with 65 RBIs and an .856 OPS over 132 games during his first full season in the majors last year.
The 24-year-old isn't arbitration-eligible until 2026. He made just over $732,000 in 2023.
