Memphis Grizzlies star Ja Morant will undergo season-ending surgery on his labrum after suffering a subluxation in his right shoulder Saturday, the team announced.

Morant is expected to make a full recovery in time for the 2024-25 season.

Morant made his season debut in December after serving a 25-game suspension. In nine games, the 24-year-old averaged 25.1 points, 8.1 assists, and 5.9 rebounds in 35.1 minutes per contest.

The Grizzlies went 6-3 with their star guard in the lineup. In the 27 games without Morant, Memphis put up a 7-20 record.

The franchise has struggled with injuries this season. Marcus Smart missed 17 games due to a foot injury, while Derrick Rose has missed 19 games with lower-body injuries. Steven Adams and Brandon Clarke, two key contributors last season, aren't expected to suit up this campaign.

Memphis has a week to file a disabled player exception for Morant's injury, which is worth $12.4 million, according to ESPN's Bobby Marks.

The Grizzlies are 13-23, ranking 13th in the Western Conference. They face the Dallas Mavericks on Tuesday.
