Minnesota Vikings wide receiver Justin Jefferson made history Thursday when he surpassed 5,000 career yards receiving in his 52nd game, equaling a mark set by Pro Football Hall of Famer Lance Alworth.

Jefferson hit the mark when he hauled in a four-yard reception from quarterback Kirk Cousins. The three-time Pro Bowler entered Thursday Night Football needing just 25 yards to reach the incredible feat.

Jefferson finished the prime-time contest by hauling in 11 receptions for 159 yards in a Week 2 loss to the Philadelphia Eagles.

The LSU product turned in a league-leading 128 catches for 1,809 yards to go along with eight touchdowns in 2022 and was named the NFL Offensive Player of the Year at the end of the season. Jefferson picked up where he left off last season, racking up nine receptions for 150 yards in Week 1.

Considered to be a game-changing playmaker within Minnesota's offense, Jefferson was unable to negotiate a contract extension with the team prior to the start of the regular season. Both sides are reportedly expected to table talks on a new deal until after the 2023 season.

Since Minnesota selected Jefferson 22nd overall in the 2020 draft, Jefferson has recorded at least 1,400 yards each season and set a NFL record for most receiving yards (4,825) in the first three years of his career.
