Jackson State's Hunter enters transfer portal
Cornerback Travis Hunter is entering the transfer portal after his freshman season at Jackson State, he announced Monday.
Hunter became one of the highest-rated recruits to ever commit to an HBCU program when he decommitted from Florida State to pick the Tigers.
The No. 2 prospect from the class of 2022 became a feature player for head coach Deion Sanders.
Hunter played on both defense and offense during his one season at Jackson State. He recorded two interceptions and 10 pass breakups while also hauling in 18 receptions for 188 yards and four touchdowns as a receiver.
Hunter is among several Jackson State players to enter the transfer portal since it opened on Dec. 5. The mass exodus has taken place shortly after "Coach Prime" was named the new head coach at Colorado on Dec. 3. Sanders also indicated that he would bring along a few players from the Tigers roster, including his son, quarterback Shedeur Sanders.
Hunter said he plans to weigh his options after entering the portal, including whether to reunite with Sanders at Colorado.
