Report: A's, Aledmys Diaz agree to 2-year, $14.5M deal

The Oakland Athletics and infielder Aledmys Diaz are in agreement on a two-year contract worth $14.5 million, according to Joel Sherman of the New York Post.

Diaz, 32, will stay in the American League West after spending the last four seasons with the Houston Astros.

A versatile defensive player, Diaz made multiple appearances at every infield position as well as 29 starts in the outfield last season.

The veteran slashed .255/.313/.424 with 32 home runs and 129 RBIs across 262 games during his tenure with the Astros.

Diaz began his career with the St. Louis Cardinals, making the National League All-Star team during his rookie season in 2016.

The Cuba native is a lifetime .266 hitter with 74 home runs, 269 RBIs, and 14 stolen bases across seven MLB seasons.
