A bantamweight bout between former champion Dominick Cruz and Marlon Vera is being targeted for a UFC Fight Night headliner on Aug. 13 in San Diego, UFC president Dana White said Tuesday, according to ESPN's Marc Raimondi.

Cruz, 37, last fought in December 2021 when he defeated Pedro Munhoz by unanimous decision. The two-time former UFC bantamweight champion is currently on a two-fight winning streak.

Vera is 9-2 over his last 11 bouts. The 29-year-old extended his winning streak to three fights after defeating Rob Font by unanimous decision in April.

Vera and Cruz are ranked fifth and eighth in the bantamweight division, respectively.
