The Boston Red Sox signed infielder Yolmer Sanchez to a minor-league contract, the club announced Wednesday.
Sanchez will be invited to spring training as a non-roster invitee.
The 29-year-old didn't play in the majors in 2021 after spending seven seasons with the Chicago White Sox. He won a Gold Glove in 2019 and accrued an AL-high 10 triples in 2018, but he owns a career .245/.300/.360 slash line with 32 homers over 657 games.
Sanchez could offer Boston depth at second base, where he's made 389 starts during his time in the majors.
