The Baltimore Orioles are altering the left-field dimensions of Oriole Park at Camden Yards ahead of the 2022 season in an effort to reduce the number of home runs hit at the stadium, the club told The Baltimore Sun's Nathan Ruiz.

Changes include raising the left-field wall's height from 7 to 12 feet while moving it back as much as 30 feet. No other changes are expected to be made, with the Orioles believing these will balance things out for left- and right-handed hitters.

Major League Baseball approved the changes, which should be in place for the beginning of the 2022 season, according to Ruiz.

The new measurements will be in line with other major-league parks, as Camden Yards previously had one of the shortest distances in left-center field (364 feet).

No MLB ballpark has seen more home runs than Camden Yards (5,911) since it opened in 1992. Orioles pitchers set a major-league record in 2019 when they allowed 305 round-trippers in one campaign.
