Inter Milan midfielder Christian Eriksen is training again after going into cardiac arrest at Euro 2020, continuing his rehab at former club Odense Boldklub in Denmark, a spokesperson told Reuters on Thursday.

Eriksen, 29, hasn't played since he collapsed during Denmark's opening match of the tournament against Finland on June 12. He received life-saving treatment on the pitch - medical staff resuscitated him with a defibrillator - before spending one week in the hospital.

Odense Boldklub, where Eriksen played from 2005-08 before joining Ajax's famed youth system, said the midfielder had started using the club's facility for individual workouts.

"Eriksen reached out to us, and he is now training by himself," the spokesperson said. "It's natural for him since he played here in his youth and lives around the corner. We are very happy to be able to provide training facilities for him."

The Dane is ineligible to feature in Serie A after undergoing surgery to have an implantable cardioverter defibrillator (ICD) placed in his chest; Inter said in October the Italian medical authority prohibits use of the device.

It's unclear if he'd be allowed to play in other countries with the ICD, but Inter said they would be open to transferring the player if it allowed him to continue his career elsewhere.

Eriksen joined Inter in January 2020 after seven years with Tottenham Hotspur. His contract with the reigning Italian champions runs until 2024.
