Bantamweight contender Jose Aldo quickly shut down the idea of a rematch with Conor McGregor.

"No, I don't see myself fighting Conor," Aldo said, according to Guilherme Cruz of MMA Fighting. "Never, I think. I can even say that. It might happen tomorrow, but that's not the path."

McGregor knocked out Aldo 13 seconds into a featherweight title unification bout at UFC 194 in 2015. The early stoppage ended the Brazilian's 17-fight win streak that stretched back to his time with the now-defunct WEC.

Aldo demanded an immediate rematch, but the promotion did not oblige his request. McGregor would go on to move up a weight class.

The two combatants now appear to be heading in opposite directions. McGregor, 33, has just one win in five years and is currently recovering from a broken leg he suffered in his lightweight trilogy fight with Dustin Poirier.

Aldo, meanwhile, recorded a unanimous decision victory over Pedro Munhoz at UFC 265 earlier in August. It was his second consecutive win by decision after defeating Marlon Vera in December.

Aldo is currently ranked fifth in the 135-pound division and has his sights set on a title shot. The 34-year-old said he's rooting for McGregor during his recovery process but doesn't expect to face "The Notorious" again.

"No, man, there's no way. I'm going after a fight for the belt," he said. "I want to build this career at bantamweight and make history this way. I'm happy that (Chael) Sonnen and others are talking about this rematch, but I don't see myself (fighting him)."
