New Philadelphia 76ers center Andre Drummond is ready for a fresh start with Joel Embiid.

While the two big men have a history of trash talk, Drummond told reporters Thursday that their beef was never serious.

"I think for me, there never was any real beef," Drummond said, according to Ky Carlin of Sixers Wire. "It's the game of basketball. We're both competitors in the way we play. Sometimes we talk. I don't think it ever goes any further than that I don't think there's any real beef or any kind of malice towards each other."

Drummond added he doesn't think "there's anything to really hash out" with Embiid and is looking forward to playing alongside him.

"Trash talking is a part of the game. I don't think it really has any meaning to it, at least to my knowledge. I don't really care," he said. "At the end of the day, I talk trash to everybody. It's part of the game I have no malice towards Joel. I'm excited to be on the same team as him and make this work."

The 27-year-old Drummond joined the Sixers on a one-year deal that will reportedly pay him the veteran's minimum salary. He finished last season with the Los Angeles Lakers after a buyout from the Cleveland Cavaliers.
