Sixers add Drummond on 1-year deal

The Philadelphia 76ers signed free-agent center Andre Drummond to a one-year contract, the team announced.

Drummond reportedly agreed to the veteran's minimum salary, according to the Philadelphia Inquirer's Keith Pompey.

The 27-year-old Drummond last played with the Los Angeles Lakers after reaching an agreement on a buyout with the Cleveland Cavaliers in March.

The two-time All-Star is expected to play backup center behind 76ers star Joel Embiid. There's some contentious history between the two big men:

After enjoying parts of eight seasons with the Detroit Pistons, Drummond struggled through injury and a falling-out with the Cavs that prompted his move to Los Angeles.

Drummond wasn't exactly a game-changer with the Lakers, either, averaging 11.9 points and 10.2 rebounds following a slow start. Drummond essentially swaps spots with Dwight Howard, who returned to the Lakers on Monday on a one-year deal following a season with Philly.
