NFLers tweet differing opinions about Newton's comments
After Cam Newton laughed at a reporter Wednesday because he thinks it's "funny" when women talk about football, the media took the quarterback to task for his inappropriate remarks, but his peers were more split on the subject.

Most players didn't publicly respond to Newton's remarks, but the handful who did offered an interesting glimpse into a player's point of view.
Retired receiver Roddy White apparently didn't see the problem with Newton's laughter:
Why is people making a fuss about cam and the woman reporter he laughed than answered her question but it was funny first time for me to

Jacksonville Jaguars defensive back Charles James also saw no issue with Newton's comments:
The world is a really soft place if people are mad at Cam Newton saying “it’s funny to hear a woman talk about routes”. Are we that soft?

if my girl say yea “they hit you with a comeback but the receiver didn’t get enough depth” imma look at her and say the SAME THING he said

Being offended is a choice! You don’t have to be offended it’s ok for stuff to just not bother you. People just like being offended

Pittsburgh Steelers linebacker Vince Williams engaged in a debate about the treatment of women in sports:
She is a NFL reporter it is her job to know about routes. And because she is a woman she probably has to know more about them than the men. https://t.co/F1ZRmmgv48

I'm sure it wasn't ment to be offensive but we aren't judged by intent. More so it was just insensitive. @CJDeuce_

But tbh I'm still shocked when female fans explain detailed football to me. Idk I feel like this is a fairly new trend.

I only say that because I can't find many men that can fluently speak football, and football is billed as a "Macho" or "Manly" pastime.

Free-agent safety James Ihedigbo didn't necessarily take a stance with or against Newton, rather asking if the public reaction was merited based on how another public figure is treated:
My question is why do ppl hold NFL players and what they say to a higher standard then they hold our president?
