The Dallas Mavericks acquired veteran sharpshooter JJ Redick and big man Nicolo Melli from the New Orleans Pelicans in exchange for James Johnson, Wes Iwundu, and a 2021 second-round pick, the teams announced.

Redick was linked to multiple teams ahead of Thursday's NBA trade deadline. The Duke product has averaged 8.7 points across 31 appearances this season. He's a career 41.5% shooter from downtown over 14 NBA seasons.

Melli has struggled during his second season in the Association, averaging just two points per contest and shooting 18.9% from beyond the arc.

Johnson provides New Orleans with another veteran and capable defender. He played well for the Minnesota Timberwolves down the stretch last season, registering 12 points, 4.7 boards, 3.8 assists, 1.4 steals, and 1.4 blocks per contest over 14 appearances.

Iwundu played sparingly for the Mavericks this season, averaging 2.1 points in 12.5 minutes per game.
