Longtime Minnesota Twins second baseman Brian Dozier announced his retirement Thursday after a nine-year MLB career.

Dozier, 33, was selected by the Twins in the eighth round of the 2009 draft and ultimately made his big-league debut in 2012. He became a fixture in Minnesota's infield over parts of seven seasons.

The 2015 All-Star hit 167 of his 192 career home runs in a Twins uniform, setting a new mark for Minnesota second basemen. He also owns the club record with 28 leadoff homers.

Dozier's best stretch came over the 2016-17 seasons when he hit .269/.349/.522 with 76 home runs, 192 RBIs, and 34 stolen bases in 307 games.

The Twins traded Dozier to the Los Angeles Dodgers midway through the 2018 campaign.

He won a World Series with the Washington Nationals in 2019 after blasting 20 home runs in 135 regular-season games in his lone year with the club.

Dozier appeared in seven games with the New York Mets in 2020.
