Juventus will cash in on forward Paulo Dybala this summer if they're unable to reach an agreement over a new contract, according to Fabrizio Romano of CBS Sports.

Dybala's current deal is set to expire in 2022.

Rather than risk losing him on a free transfer next year, Juve would instead look to offload the 27-year-old for a significant fee in the upcoming transfer window, Romano notes.

The two sides have been working for some time to extend the Argentine's tenure in Turin.

Amid swirling rumors over Dybala's future, Juventus president Andrea Agnelli stated in December that keeping the left-footed attacker remains a priority, adding that the club tabled a significant contract offer.

"We see Paulo as a future captain of the team," Agnelli said at the time. "Already now he often wears the armband.

"He knows he has the offer, we are waiting serenely for an answer."

Dybala, who's scored two league goals this season amid an injury- and illness-plagued campaign, came close to leaving the Bianconeri for Manchester United in 2019 before a reported swap deal for Romelu Lukaku fell apart.
