Tiger Woods will take part in the upcoming Zozo Championship at Sherwood Country Club, he announced Wednesday.

Woods is set to defend his title after winning the inaugural edition of the tournament - the PGA Tour's first sanctioned event in Japan - in 2019. This year's event was moved to California due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

Woods has had success at Sherwood in the past, winning there six times in total. It was the site of the Woods-hosted World Challenge from 2000-13, a stretch that saw him win the limited-field tournament five times.

The Zozo Championship will feature 78 golfers, including leading players from the FedExCup points list and players designated by the Japan Golf Tour Organization.

The tournament is set to kick off on Oct. 22 as part of a western swing to open the 2020-21 season. Two events in Las Vegas - the Shriners Hospital for Children Open at TPC Summerlin and the CJ Cup at Shadow Creek - will precede it.
