Major League Baseball suspended Los Angeles Dodgers reliever Joe Kelly for eight games for his role in Tuesday's benches-clearing incident against the Houston Astros, according to Mark Feinsand of MLB.com.

Dodgers manager Dave Roberts received a one-game ban, while Astros skipper Dusty Baker was fined for allowing his players to storm the field, Brian McTaggart of MLB.com reports.

Kelly's suspension would be the equivalent of 22 games in a full 162-game season, Ken Rosenthal of The Athletic adds.

Kelly threw "in the area of the head of Alex Bregman and later taunted Carlos Correa, which led to the benches clearing," MLB senior vice president of baseball operations Chris Young announced.

The right-hander will appeal the decision and be available for the second game of the series at Minute Maid Park.

Tempers flared between the two teams in their first meeting since the offseason investigation into the Astros' sign-stealing scheme during the 2017 campaign, which culminated in Houston defeating Los Angeles in the World Series.
