The 1997 World Series between the juggernaut Cleveland Indians and the upstart Florida Marlins was a back-and-forth affair, as the teams alternated victories through the first six contests. That set up a Game 7 with plenty of history on the line: either the Indians would snap their 49-year title drought and finally bring Cleveland a championship, or the 5-year-old Marlins would become the first wild-card team and the fastest expansion franchise to win it all.

Game 7, contested in front of 67,204 rabid fans at Pro Player Stadium, saw the Marlins and Indians battle for 11 nail-biting innings until Edgar Renteria finally played the hero.
