The Washington Redskins have activated running back Derrius Guice from the injured reserve, according to Field Yates of ESPN.

Guice missed eight games after undergoing surgery to trim the meniscus in his right knee. The former second-round pick missed his entire rookie campaign after tearing the ACL in his left knee.

Guice rushed for 18 yards on 10 carries in the season opener. He was named a starter by former head coach Jay Gruden before Week 1, though Adrian Peterson has reemerged as the primary ball-carrier during his absence.

The Redskins are on a bye in Week 10 and will face the New York Jets on Nov. 17.
