Kate Upton, Bryce Harper, others react to Game 6 interference call
In likely one of the most controversial calls in World Series history, speedy Washington Nationals shortstop Trea Turner was ruled out for interfering with Houston Astros first baseman Yuli Gurriel in the seventh inning of Game 6 on Tuesday.
The events caused a firestorm, resulting in Nationals manager Dave Martinez being ejected.
A chorus of reactions quickly materialized on everybody's favorite free website.
MLB reporters weighed in on the call, trumpeting the failures of replay review:
Call upheld.

Unreal.
What a failure.
The play is upheld and Turner is out. I guess I'd make a bad umpire, because I just don't understand that.

Former Nationals superstar Bryce Harper wants to see his old skipper go medieval on the umpires:
Next @roughnrowdy for @barstoolsports! Davey vs. The Umpires in this series. #natsvsastros pic.twitter.com/9OLAatwcj9

Other players also reacted, mostly disagreeing with the umpires, with Chicago Cubs slugger Kyle Schwarber suggesting the league adopt some new equipment:
Why put the bag in fair territory then! Go and do the softball orange safety bag so we can make it clear where to touch the bag in FOUL territory. Such a bad rule pic.twitter.com/VicFsyi9We

That is an absolutely awful call... what are we doin?

That’s as bad as it gets. Rewarding a bad stretch and a bad throw.

Will Middlebrooks hilariously alluded to the time his team lost a game in the World Series because of his obstruction:
That’s such a brutal call. If anyone knows interference, it’s me.... and that ain’t it chief.

Some did take the side of the umpires, though, including Kate Upton, the wife of Astros Game 6 starter Justin Verlander:
He wasn’t within the base path. Those who don’t know the rule you HAVE to run inside the 2 lines. Not sure why the review is taking so long... pic.twitter.com/SzUJTA4L70

They got the Turner call right. Batter/runner has to run in the lane. Turner never stepped one foot in the lane. If throw hits you, you’re gonna be out every time. Ask Juan Pierre. Happened to him about 20 times. Argue with the rule all you want but umpires got call right.

One MLB fan mocked the situation by hearkening back to Game 5 when three models were banned from all MLB stadiums for flashing behind home plate:
the real boob who shoulda got banned from baseball games was the home plate ump
