Longtime running back Jamaal Charles will sign a one-day contract with the Kansas City Chiefs to retire as a member of the team, according to 610 Sports Radio.

Charles spent nine of his 11 seasons in the league with the Chiefs and is the team's all-time leading rusher. He also possesses the highest yards-per-carry average (5.4) among running backs in NFL history.

A true three-down back, Charles was Kansas City's third-round selection (No. 73 overall) in the 2008 NFL Draft. He amassed four Pro Bowls and two first-team All-Pro nods with the club.

The 32-year-old finishes his career with 7,563 rushing yards, 2,593 receiving yards, and 64 total touchdowns.

Charles was incredibly productive when healthy but injuries derailed his career. He tore his ACL in 2011 and 2015.

The ball carrier was released by the Chiefs following the 2016 season. He spent 2017 with the Denver Broncos and played in two games with the Jacksonville Jaguars last year.
