Canada, USA to play for gold at Women's Worlds
Canada will play the United States in the final of the Women's World Championship after clobbering Finland 8-1 in Saturday's semifinal.
The Americans punched their ticket to the final earlier Saturday, escaping with a 2-1 win over host Czechia.
Canadian goaltender Ann-Renee Desbiens recorded her 22nd career win at the tournament, passing Switzerland's Florence Schelling for the most ever. Captain Marie-Philip Poulin passed Hayley Wickenheiser to become Canada's all-time top scorer at the Women's World Championship.
This will mark the fifth straight year the North American rivals meet in the gold-medal game. Canada emerged victorious in 2021, 2022, and 2024, while the United States won in 2023.
The final will take place Sunday at noon ET.
Czechia and Finland will play for bronze at 8 a.m. ET.
