Watch: Bryson's brilliant 55-yard bunker shot sets up win

Every championship has its defining shot, and there's no question what that was for Bryson DeChambeau on Sunday at the U.S. Open.

DeChambeau found himself in a tough spot with tree trouble and a root in front of his ball in the rough while sitting tied for the lead on the 18th hole at Pinehurst.

However, Rory McIlroy would miss a four-footer to drop out of the tie and make par good enough for DeChambeau to claim the title. That was still no easy feat for the American, who faced a 55-yard bunker shot from in front of the green.

It was then that DeChambeau hit what he described on television afterward as "probably the best shot of my life."

DeChambeau poured in the ensuing three-foot, 11-inch putt to win his second U.S. Open.

He finished the week 18th in strokes gained: short game, with no shot bigger than his second last at Pinehurst.
