Adam Scott to spend more time in U.S. to 'compete seriously' in 2023

Adam Scott may already have 14 career TOUR victories and 14 more worldwide, but the 42-year-old says he's not finished yet.

In an attempt to give himself a better chance at further PGA TOUR success, the Australian plans to spend more time in the U.S. for the 2023 season.

"I don't live in the States, but I'm going to spend way more time in the States next year to compete seriously," Scott told Golf Digest's Evin Priest. "I can't be flying all around the world playing against guys who don't."

Scott, who lives in Switzerland, has previously traveled for stints of play in the U.S. This year, he plans to live in Florida between March and June.

"I want to fulfill my dreams and goals as a player, and time is less on my side now," he said. "I have to do everything I can to make sure I give myself the best chance. I still haven't achieved all the things I want to achieve in my own career."

In addition to his planned travel adjustments, Scott has also added caddie Steve Williams back to his bag to share duties with Greg Hearmon, according to Priest.

Scott's changes come ahead of next year's new TOUR schedule featuring 13 events with elevated status in addition to the four majors. The TOUR's best will meet 17 times with minimum purses of $20 million.

"I don't know that there's ever been a better time to be a member of the PGA TOUR because all of a sudden there are these 13 elevated events that are at least double the money we've ever played for," said Scott.

The former Masters winner is playing in the DP World Tour's Australian PGA Championship this week. He shot a first-round 66 on Thursday.
