Tiger shoots 79 in Round 3 of PGA Championship, unsure of playing Sunday

Tiger Woods shot a 9-over 79 on Saturday during the third round of the PGA Championship at Southern Hills.

He's now 12-over for the tournament in Tulsa, Oklahoma.

Woods passed on interviews following his round and didn't commit to playing Sunday, reported CBS's Amanda Balionis Renner, per The Quadrilateral's Geoff Shackelford.

"Well, I'm sore," said Woods. "I know that is for a fact. We'll do some work and see how it goes."

The 46-year-old had a rocky start to the week, posting a 4-over 74 in what he called a "frustrating day" Thursday. He cited pain in his right leg - which he injured in his February 2021 car accident - as a difficulty.

Woods bounced back for Friday's second round, grinding his way to a 1-under 69 to make the cut at his second official tournament since the accident.

He teed off Saturday for the third round alongside South African Shaun Norris, who shot a 4-over 74 in just his second made cut at a major championship.

Woods opened his round with par, but a water ball on the par-4 second led to a bogey. He proceeded to make a triple-bogey at the par-3 sixth and two more bogeys on his front nine holes, including No. 9.

"I just didn't play well. I didn't hit the ball very well and got off to not the start I needed to get off to," Woods said, according to Golfweek's Steve DiMeglio.

He began his back nine with a string of four straight bogeys before finally making par at the par-3 14th. He followed that up with his first and only birdie of the round at the par-4 15th, draining a 36-foot putt.

Woods went on to par his last three holes to record a third-round score of 79. It's his highest round in a PGA Championship.
