Viktor Hovland withdrew from the U.S. Open after getting sand in his eye during his warmup for the second round.
The Norwegian managed to play 10 holes on Friday, making four bogeys and a double-bogey. He shot a 2-over 74 in Round 1.
Hovland provided an entertaining update on his Instagram:
This is the first time in his career he's been forced to withdraw from a tournament.
Hovland, who's ranked 13th in the world, was playing in his third U.S. Open and finished inside the top 15 on both previous occasions.
